This morning Felix said, "but mommy you can't go back to work because we need a mommy at home.".
When I asked him why he needed a mommy at home when he was at daycare he said, "we need a mommy to make crafts, hot cocoa, play with cars..."
You can't deny his logic, but here I am on my first day waiting for my staffer to show up with keys and wondering what the next year will bring.

Wilbert's Last Day of 0
Dear Wilbert,
What a year it has been! One year ago, at this exact moment, your Dad and I were going for a long walk to try to get labour happening and it sure worked. So well in fact that I had you within about 4 hours! I will never forget the amazing feeling of waking up the next morning, in our own bed, and looking over at you sleeping in between us and knowing that it was one of the happiest moments of my life.
You have grown and learned so much this year. Your first smiles that began on one side of your mouth and then spread to the other were ridiculously cute. You were ALWAYS smiling, especially at your brother. I wonder if you will always find Felix that amusing.
You loved sleeping with me, cuddled up right beside me most nights, until you started crawling too much to co-sleep and we had to move to the crib and bunk with your brother. I just had to stop writing this to run upstairs and nurse you. Felix woke up too and walked over to the chair and kissed you on your head. You two seem to like sharing a room.
You are an excellent player. You love tractors. You love airplanes and trains. You know baby sign language for many animals (cat, dog, cow, fish, bee, birds) and many other things (more, eat, drink, all done, sleep, bath, cheese, nurse, airplane, train) and can pretty much communicate anything you want. You can say many words (mom, dad, more, cat, dog, tractor, moo, Tesla, woo woo, wow, uh oh). Oh, and you have an amazing wave hello and goodbye and you have started to blow kisses. We are pretty sure you are going to be able to blow out your candle tomorrow. You love music and dancing and can do all the actions to the Incy Wincy Spider.
You love the water. At the cottage this summer you would happily hang out in the water for 45 minutes or longer. You are in swimming lessons and have no problem putting your face under or kicking and splashing. You LOVE your bath. You scream when I take you out because you want to keep playing.
You are a joker. You love to play peek a boo and to try to get others to play along with you. You love to whack us with books and insist that we read them to you.
You are very social. You say hi to everyone when we are in the grocery store and make us many friends. When I am walking down the street with you in the stroller, I always see people smiling at you and then notice that you are waving to them. You love to play with your future wife, Zoey.
Your Dad gets a kick out of the fact that when he goes into your room when you cry out at night you get irate when you see him and whack his hand out of the way and then just sigh and lie down as you know he doesn't have the milk that you want.
We love you so much, little Wibbly, and I am so excited for your next year of being 1 when you will show us even more of your personality.
Love,
Mom

Early morning laugh fest
As I was in a half awake state listening to Stephen get ready for work, huge belly chuckles started erupting through the baby monitor. Both Felix and Wilbert were laughing hysterically. It was one of the few times I wished we had a video monitor so I could see what they were up to.
I am so glad that our boys get to share a room during these early years. They both love the comfort of knowing the other is in the room and they have a blast too.
The only thing that would have made this more cute was if it happened a little later than 6am.

Pour milk on the bee!
The other day I was madly pumping milk before taking off to get a much overdue hair trim. Usually I do it while Felix naps or at night. He came up to me and said, "mommy the bee scares me". (the pump is yellow). "pour milk on the bee!"

Felix: what is that on your arm mommy?
