Update

It has been too long since I've blogged so here is a bit of a catch up.

Stephen has been working day and night to get our basement rental suite finished.  It is so so close!  Uncle Michael and his team re-built our back mud-room so our own house has been turned upside down as well, but we are excited for doors and windows to be added and the outside finished.

I took the little boys to Saskatchewan for 11 days and we had so much fun.  Felix especially enjoyed baking cookies every day, playing in mud puddles, visiting farms, tractor rides, collecting chicken eggs, etc.  Wilbert enjoyed being held by various family members and being thoroughly entertained and well cuddled.  Stephen fit in a little trip to Cuba to do a bit of diving on his own, a much deserved break from all the renovating!

Felix is talking our ears off and has developed quite an extensive vocabulary.  We had to give him a time out at supper last night and at the end of it when we asked him to repeat the rule he broke back to us he went on pause and then said "I can't talk."  Sigh.  He is definitely 2 and rather frustrating at times, but still so cute and cuddly and enthusiastic that it is hard to stay frustrated for long.  He is climbing up the hard parts at the playground now without need for help.  We've also been toilet training for the last week or two and he is really getting the hang of it.  He's even made it through 3 days in a row with no accidents!  Yesterday he helped me plant our front flower beds and loved it.  The flowers aren't exactly in the locations I was planning and some of them got a little torn up, but it doesn't really matter as we had such a fun morning planting while Wilbert sat/rolled around on his blanket and watched us.

Wilbert has been hitting quite a few developmental milestones in the last few weeks (I almost forgot how exciting 6 months is).  He has taken to solid food with great enthusiasm.  He has been rocking back and forth on all fours for awhile now and even does downward dog from time to time.  Two nights ago he figured out how to go from lying to sitting (it made for a long night of him cooing excitedly and repeating over and over).  His sitting is solid enough now that I can leave him on the hardwood and not worry that he will fall over.  He has done a few army crawls, but nothing long-distance yet.  He has also started babbling in the past week and Felix things it is very funny to listen to Wilbert "talk".

The other part of this age that I'm loving is that we can bathe the boys together finally which makes things much easier (especially since it is summer and we have to do it pretty much nightly due to all the sand/mud/dirt/avocados we get into).
